Interesting Facts About The Project
These dual Tennis / Basketball courts were originally dual asphalt Tennis courts. Due to time and material wear, these asphalt courts were damaged beyond repair. The best option to rebuild such damaged asphalt courts is through a post-tension concrete overlay system. This way the existing asphalt court serves as a great underlayment, and only a small portion of it has to be demolished. A post-tension concrete overlay athletic court is a win-win in terms of structural and cost efficiency.
The existing fence for this project was kept for the new dual courts. We are able to achieve this without demolishing the existing fence by rolling up the chain-link fabric before the concrete is poured. We also apply crack mitigation solutions to the perimeter of each fence post that will now meet with the new concrete overlay. After the concrete has cured, then chain-link fabric is once again lowered. Since the new post-tension concrete overlay raises the previous courts elevation, the chain-link fabric is cut flush with the new raised elevation of the court then re-knuckled.
Existing gooseneck basketball hoops remained in great structural condition. The only issue was the aesthetics of the hoops. We detailed and re-painted both gooseneck basketball systems which saved our customer costs in removing these and installing new systems since such work was completely unnecessary. The hoop systems were virtually new after detailing and re-painting.
